Volunteers for Ashanti Development (VAD) is a non-governmental organization founded in 2025 with a bold vision—to ignite sustainable development and empower individuals across the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Rooted in the values of community service, equity, and resilience, VAD is driven by the belief that real change begins at the grassroots level, and that every person, regardless of background, deserves access to opportunities that improve their quality of life.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote the holistic development of the Ashanti Region by supporting education, healthcare, economic empowerment, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion. We aim to bridge the gap between under-resourced communities and essential services while creating a network of passionate volunteers dedicated to long-term regional growth.

Our Vision

To see a thriving Ashanti Region where every individual—child, youth, adult, and elder—has the tools and support needed to lead a dignified and prosperous life.

What We Do

VAD focuses on several core areas:

1. Education Support

We work with local schools to provide learning materials, sponsor scholarships for underprivileged students, and organize mentorship programs. Through literacy campaigns and digital learning projects, we ensure that no child in Ashanti is left behind.

2. Health and Wellbeing

We run free health outreach programs, partner with clinics to improve healthcare access, and conduct campaigns on preventive health, sanitation, and mental wellness. Our maternal and child health initiatives are particularly impactful in rural areas.

3. Economic Empowerment

VAD offers vocational training programs, especially for women and youth, in skills such as tailoring, agriculture, IT, and entrepreneurship. We also support small businesses through microloans and mentorship to help families become financially independent.

4. Community Development

From building clean water systems to improving local roads and schools, VAD works hand-in-hand with community members to identify needs and implement practical solutions. We value community ownership and sustainability in all our projects.

5. Environmental Protection

Recognizing the threats posed by climate change and environmental degradation, we organize tree-planting campaigns, clean-up exercises, and climate education projects to safeguard Ashanti’s rich natural heritage.
